Keegan happy with Wembley result
Michael Owen
Owen is thrilled to score against Brazil
England coach Kevin Keegan declared himself satisfied with the performance after seeing his side earn a 1-1 draw against Brazil.

He said: "It's an honourable draw because its Brazil. They keep the ball well and are very patient.

"I do get a feeling if we knocked it about at the back, which is not our style, I think the crowd would get at us.

Keegan feels Brazil gave England a good workout

"I thought we defended very well, we certainly had some good chances and the lads were blowing at the end. It was a very good workout.

"Michael Owen and Alan Shearer up front were real pluses whenever we did get any sort of service into them.

"Michael has got his goal and maybe people will start to look at the positives now. The minuses have been well documented.

"His work-rate and his finishing today were great. He was unlucky in the second half when the keeper made a great save.

"He was lively and there are still things Michael will get better at. He's 20 years of age and still learning his trade on the biggest stage of all."

England marksman Owen was delighted to have got on the scoresheet.

He was thrilled to have added the Brazilians to his list of victims, but the Liverpool striker regrets the fact that England failed to keep their lead going into the break.

To score against Brazil, the best team in the world, makes me very happy

Michael Owen

Owen said: "If we had just held out for another 15 or 20 seconds we could have won the match, but overall we learned a lot from the game.

"Personally I have learned a lot and it will stand us in good stead when we go to the European Championship.

"I think we did well. It's always hard at international level and today they must have had 70% of the ball, but you have to make the most of it.

"It can be tough and I have not played against the likes of San Marino and scored hat-tricks, so I haven't a very good scoring record.

"But to score against Brazil, the best team in the world, makes me very happy.

"The second-half performance went a bit dead - I think they were quite happy with a draw, so that might say something.

"They were scared of us in certain ways."
