Keegan: We must be disciplined
Paul Scholes
Paul Scholes gets his marching orders against Sweden
Kevin Keegan is backing his England midfield quartet to find the right balance between aggression and indiscipline against Brazil.

Three of the midfield foursome who will start at Wembley have been dismissed in an England shirt in the last two years.

The other is Dennis Wise - who has endured his own catalogue of controversy during a colourful career.

Keegan said: "You've got to be able to stand up and be counted at this level.

You've got to stand up and be counted at this level... but that will to win needs controlling

"This midfield can do that. I prefer to call it character and will to win but it needs controlling."

Paul Scholes was sent off in a goalless Euro 2000 qualifier with Sweden at Wembley last June after collecting two yellow cards for a pair of reckless challenges.

"I try to send people out in the right way. I don't want what happened with Paul against Sweden to happen again and he knows that. We asked him for hand-grenades and got an exocet."

David Beckham
David Beckham is learning to keep his cool for England
Paul Ince was dismissed in Stockholm nine months earlier, and received an extended ban after a V-sign on his way down the tunnel.

David Beckham however has managed to keep himself out of trouble at international level since his red card against Argentina in France 98 - and Keegan recognises that fact.

"I have never had a problem with David Beckham," Keegan continued.

"And I know Dennis got booked against Argentina but his performance was world class."
