Czech Republic international Radek Bejbl could be winging his way to Sunderland after manager Peter Reid expressed an interest in the player.
The Black Cats boss spent eight days at Euro 2000 and was impressed with the Bejbl's displays against France and Holland. "We've got an interest in Radek but deals are always complex nowadays," Reid told the official Sunderland website. "He's a player I rate highly but I can't say too much more at the moment." Recently relegated The Czech star's business manager Clemente Villaverde admitted that Sunderland had put forward the best offer so far. "Sunderland's offer is the most interesting from the four clubs who are interested in Radek. We expect the deal to go forward if there is agreement by the clubs and the player," said Villaverde. Bejbl, who plays for Athletico Madird, is one many of the high-profile players set to leave the recently relegated Primera Liga club. Striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink left Athletico for Chelsea in a deal worth £15m. |
