Premiership clubs eyeing Nedved
![]() Nedved could soon be lighting up the Premiership
Czech star Pavel Nedved claims both Manchester United and Chelsea have shown an interest in securing his services for next season.
Nedved, who plays for Lazio in Serie A, revealed his club had been in contact with him during Euro 2000 to inform him of the approach from the Premiership champions. The talented midfielder, who has turned in impressive displays despite the Czechs' failure to qualify from Group D, went on to say that talks between United and Lazio officials could even proceed in the coming week. "Lazio have been in touch with me since the tournament began and said that Manchester United have offered £21.2 million for me," Nedved declared. "Negotiations are set to take place over the next few days and I already know that Chelsea bid £16 million for me a month or two ago." Big-money move Nedved played a big part in Lazio's success last season and happy to stay in Rome with the Italian double-winners. But he must also be aware that Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti and coach Sven Goran Eriksson are trying to build a squad for next season, and have already been linked with big-money moves for Luis Figo and Christian Vieri. So a big-money move to the Premiership may give the Italian side the cash they needed for their own high-profile recruitment drive this summer.
