Bejbl ready to quit Atletico Madrid
![]() Radek Bejbl may have played his last game for Atletico
Czech international Radek Bejbl has confirmed his intention to quit relegated Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been at Atletico for four seasons since joining them from Slavia Prague. "I will lose 90 per cent of my bonus payments if I play for them in the second division," Bejbl told Spanish sports daily Marca. "There are plenty of players at this club who are in the same position. I don't think I'm going to be the only one leaving for the same reason." Bejbl's contract doesn't expire until 2003 but he was already certain to miss Saturday's Spanish Cup final against Espanyol because of a tug-of-war between his club and country. He is part of the Czech Republic squad for the Euro 2000 finals in Belgium and the Netherlands next month and the Czechs refused to release him for the final in Valencia.
