Philippe Clement

Philippe Clement
A utility player who can operate in midfield or at full-back, Clement's versatility has been invaluable to Bruges since his move from Coventry City in 1999.

His spell in the Premiership was plagued by ill-luck as a hamstring injury and a broken cheekbone restricted his appearances and ability to settle.

Clement played twice for Belgium in France 98, having made his name at Genk in the 1997-98 season when he helped them win the Belgian Cup and finish runners-up in the League.

His international debut was against Norway in 1998 but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.

His robust physical presence and tidy ball skills make him a useful squad player, although any ambitions of snatching the holding midfielder's slot are likely to be frustrated by the presence of Yves Vanderhaeghe.
