Geert De Vlieger

Geert de Vlieger
Geert De Vlieger was another player to benefit from the fallout after Belgium's poor France 98.

He was given his chance as younger alternatives to the old guard were sought, but has not been able to make the most of it.

Having taken over from Filip de Wilde for his club, he then made it a double over the 35-year-old by replacing him for his international debut, against Greece, in February last year.

Like fellow 'keeper Ronny Gaspercic, de Vlieger has spent the past five seasons moving from club to club.

He started out at Beveren and then moved to Anderlecht in 1995 from where he was loaned to Harelbeke two years ago.

Having failed to make headway with Anderlecht, he moved to Dutch club Willem II in November 1999.
