Zoff demands more
![]() A very happy Francesco Totti
Italy coach Dino Zoff admitted that his team had done well to make it to the semi-finals, but felt that improvement is required if they are to progress still further.
Francesco Totti and Filippo Inzaghi scored in the first half to give the 'Azzurri' a comfortable win, but they failed to increase their advantage after the sending off of Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi. "For us this was a very difficult game but we kept to our task very well and earned our reward," said Zoff. Accomplished "Some thought reaching the quarter-finals was impossible, and we're happy with what we've accomplished. But we have to play much better," he added. For Totti, his goal was the ideal reward for his endeavour and for the persistence shown in his talent by Zoff, who kept superstar Alessandro Del Piero on the bench. "All the team played well, we worked hard and really earned this great victory," Totti said. "We are always strong and we always try to improve on what we did in the previous game." "This team has shown real character and a great will to win."
