Martyn was called into the team after David Seaman picked up an injury before kick-off.

14 mins: Romania are firmly on top and Viorel Moldovan tests Martyn with a powerful shot from the edge of the box which the Leeds keeper blocks.

18 mins Cristian Chivu is booked after up-ending Beckham. The free-kick is delivered into the box by Beckham but Sol Campbell just fails to make contact as the ball whistles wide.

23 mins: Chivu picks up the ball on the left side of the penalty area and his cross loops over Martyn before crashing back off the inside of the far post and into the net.

34 mins: England are caught napping in defence as Dan Petrescu's cross is met by Ilie but Martyn makes a comfortable save.
