Swedes still hopeful
![]() Recber denied Freddie Ljungberg
Sweden's joint-coach Lars Lagerback has not conceded Sweden's chances of making the last eight following his side's tedious 0-0 draw with Turkey.
The Swedes must beat Italy in their final game to have a chance of qualifying, although Belgium can still make that result academic if they beat Turkey. "We are disappointed we did not win," said Lagerback. "But the players tried their best and that is important as well. "We still have a chance to reach the quarter-finals and we will do everything we can to beat Italy."
The result only really favoured Italy, who qualify as group winners without playing their third game. Turkish coach Mustafa Denizli said afterwards that he also felt his side still had a chance of reaching the quarter-finals. "It was a tough match played at a high tempo. We did not manage to win this game, but my players tried everything and gave their best. "We still have some hope in the last match (against Belgium) and we will do everything we can to win." |
