Heath Ledger's family say they are "proud and excited" about the actor's posthumous Oscar nomination for his role in the Dark Knight.

Ledger died of an accidental drug overdose exactly one year before being shortlisted for best supporting actor.

Heath Ledger's sister Kate said his family were still nursing broken hearts on the anniversary of his death, while sister Ashleigh spoke of their pride at his Oscar nomination.
