"Forces' Sweetheart" Dame Vera Lynn has taken to the stage nearly 70 years after the start of World War II to recount her experiences of that time.
The 92-year-old, who is famous for war-time songs such as We'll Meet Again and White Cliffs of Dover, was speaking at an event at London's National Theatre.
The BBC's arts correspondent David Sillito caught up with her.
