Ali G up for an Emmy
Sacha Baron Cohen as Ali G
Sacha Baron Cohen has already won awards for Ali G
Channel 4's Da Ali G Show is among a host of British productions up for this year's International Emmy Awards.

The UK produced 12 out of the 21 nominees for the awards, which take place on 20 November in New York.

Da Ali G Show, featuring Sacha Baron Cohen's spoof hip-hop fan, faces fellow Channel 4 show Smack The Pony in the popular arts category.

Warriors
Warriors has also won awards for the BBC
Smack The Pony - which is also produced by the same production company, Talkback - won the same prize at last year's ceremony.

It has won a string of awards since being shown earlier this year, and Ali G also starred in the video for Madonna's hit single Music.

BBC One's drama Warriors, which has also picked up a steady stream of prizes, is nominated for best drama. It starred Ioan Grufford, Matthew MacFadyen and Shaun Dooley as British soldiers in Bosnia.

Warriors competes with Channel 4's historical drama Longitude.

The BBC has six nominations, Channel 4 has five while ITV has one, for a ITN news report on the Mozambique floods.

A record number of 549 programmes were nominated for the 28th International Emmys.

The International Emmys honour productions from outside the US, as opposed to the domestic Emmy awards which take place each September.
