The show will take place on 2 November, and is the last scheduled event to take place beneath the distinctive twin towers.

Organisers are hoping the event will raise £1 million for the NSPCC Full Stop Campaign.

Mark Wood, Chief Executive of AXA UK, which is organising the event, said: "Music has played a huge part in Wembley's history and Sir Elton's presence will ensure that music as well as sport lives on in Wembley's memory."

Tha famous old stadium, built in 1923, is no stranger to rock concerts.
