Madonna's world Music
![]() Madonna makes music in her sleep
Madonna has signalled a return to past glories with her album Music going to number one in 23 countries, including the UK and the US.
Music is her first US number one in 11 years and in one week the album has sold more than a million copies world-wide.
In the UK the album has sold more than 300,000 copies and close to half a million copies in the US. The title track to the album has already gone to the number one spot in 25 different countries. Warner Bros Records chairman Russ Thyret said the sales were "testimony to the universal appeal of Madonna and her overwhelming creativity". The Music album ranks as the fourth best US debut of 2000, after 'N Sync's No Strings Attached (first-week sales 2.4m copies), Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP (1.8m) and Britney Spears' Oops! I Did It Again (1.3m). Madonna is planning to play a concert at London's Brixton Academy, her agent said this week. The 42-year-old performer gave birth to her second child, Rocco, last month.
