New baby for Phil Collins
Phil and Orianne Collins

Singer Phil Collins is to become a father again at the age of 49.

His third wife, Orianne, 28, is three months pregnant with her first child, his spokesman has confirmed.

He added: "It is very early days and and they have not even told all the members of their families yet."

The pair, who are currently on holiday in the Mediterranean, said after their wedding that they were keen to start a family as soon as possible.

A former child actor, Collins has been a fixture of British music for three decades. He joined Genesis as their drummer in 1970, taking over vocals from Peter Gabriel four years later.

He went solo in 1981, but his popularity peaked in the early 1990s, and a messy divorce from his second wife damaged his public profile.

Collins moved to Switzerland, where he met Orianne, and concentrated on writing and recording.

This year he won an Oscar for his song You'll Be In My Heart, from the soundtrack to Disney's film Tarzan.

He has two grown-up children by his first wife and an 11-year-old daughter from his second marriage.
