Woman charged with Billie death threats

Billie: Three alleged death threats
A woman has appeared in court charged with threatening to kill teenage pop star Billie Piper.

Juliet Peters, 32, was arrested at her home in Canning Town, east London, on 30 August, according to the Metropolitan Police.

She was later charged with three counts of threatening to kill the singer, one count of harassment and one count of sending malicious communications to her.

A police spokeswoman said Ms Peters appeared at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court, central London, on Thursday.

She was remanded in custody to appear before the court again on 5 September.

Hectic schedule

The 17-year-old pop star, who grew up in Swindon, Wiltshire, shot to fame in 1998 when she topped the charts with Because We Want To.

The single made her the youngest female to have a UK number one for 38 years.

Billie has been in the spotlight for her health problems

Billie's success at such a young age has brought her under the media spotlight.

She was reported to have collapsed unconscious in a London nightclub earlier this year suffering from a kidney complaint.

She was taken ill again in August after filming a slot for children's TV.

Friends and family have urged her to take time off from her schedule.

Last week Billie's plans were disrupted again when a private plane she was travelling in suffered engine problems and failed to take off, forcing her to cancel a concert in Cornwall.
