Mel B's ex-husband arrested
Mel B with estranged husband Jimmy Gulzar
Gulzar categorically denies the allegations
The estranged husband of Spice Girl Mel B has been arrested by police in connection with an alleged assault on the singer's sister.

Dutch-born dancer Jimmy Gulzar was arrested on Monday and questioned at Kentish Town police station, north London, about the alleged assault on 19-year-old Danielle Brown.

He was released on bail later in the evening.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "A 30-year-old man was arrested in the Camden area and it was in connection with an alleged assault.

"He was taken to Kentish Town police station and bailed to return pending further inquiries."

Mr Gulzar and Melanie Brown, also known as Scary Spice, met in 1998 but split up earlier this year after a stormy 16-month marriage.

The Sun newspaper said Mr Gulzar, who "categorically denies the allegation", had the couple's 18-month-old daughter Phoenix Chi with him at the time of the alleged assault.
