A judge in Beverly Hills has issued an arrest warrant for actress Lindsay Lohan, after she failed to attend a probation hearing.

She was expected to personally attend, after it was reported that she failed to complete alcohol education classes.

Speaking at the hearing, Judge Marsha Revel said there was "no valid excuse" for the actress not attending.

Ms Lohan's lawyer says she missed the hearing due to her passport being stolen at the Cannes Film Festival.

Speaking outside the courthouse, the star's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley said she "absolutely intended to be back".
