Ian McEwan's new novel Solar features a nobel prize-winning physicist Michael Beard who works on Climate Change projects.
Shortlisted several times, he won the Booker Prize in 1998 for Amsterdam, while Atonement was made into a film starring Keira Knightley.
He spoke to Razia Iqbal about why he decided to make this book funny and where he stumbled upon the inspiration for his main character in Solar.
