Craig David gets second chart-topper

Craig David takes the top slot again aged 18
Singer Craig David is celebrating becoming number one for the second time in his short solo career.

His single 7 Days sold more than 100,000 copies to soar straight to the top of the UK top 40 on Sunday.

Craig David: New hope for British song-writing talent
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Southampton sold nearly twice as many copies than his nearest rivals, Bomfunk MCs, who reached the number two slot with their track Freestyler.

David's last solo release, Fill Me In, reached number one after Rewind, his debut collaboration with club act Artful Dodger, also made it to the top slot.

British talent

Chart expert Gennaro Castaldo predicts a bright future for David.

"The emergence of David as a number one star could signal a renaissance in the fortunes of true British singer-songwriters," he said.

David knocked We Will Rock You, a joint rendition by Five and Queen, off the top spot to number three.

Boyzone singer Ronan Keating is at number four ahead of American rapper Eminem with The Real Slim Shady.

Around 100,000 of the Irish singer's first-week sales were discounted, as their CD-Rom format was not deemed valid by chart compilers.
