Lady Gaga tour tickets double in price

Lady Gaga
Tickets for the new dates go on sale on 12 March

US pop star Lady Gaga has announced three more dates for the UK leg of her Monster Ball tour, but some tickets have nearly doubled in price.

The lavish tour kicked off in Manchester last month, when tickets cost between £27.50 and £35.

However, the extra dates, which have been organised by a different promoter, are priced between £50 and £75.

Some fans on the singer's website have expressed concern at the steep price hike for the forthcoming gigs.

Ric Dickinson wrote: "Will we be getting a brand new show when the tour comes back to the UK in May? Or will the show be the same and fans will be expected to pay £75 for a show that only cost them £27 to see months earlier?

Another fan, calling themselves Barley 142007, said: "I was sure the price will go up but this is steep!!!!"

Two dates on the current leg of Lady Gaga's tour, in Sheffield and Nottingham, were postponed earlier this week and will now form part of the star's second outing.

Referring to those dates, Dickinson continued: "I will gladly pay the extra if we are promised something extra, however surely it would be a case for trading standards, especially as the rescheduled shows will get to see a show that everyone else will get to see after paying three times as much."

'Comparable and fair'

Lady Gaga has already revamped her stage production once - scrapping her entire US show and retooling it for the UK at a reported cost of £2m.

Arthur Fogel, chairman of global touring at Live Nation, said: "What was a small arena/theatre production is now a massive, first rate arena production.

"Ticket prices for the previous dates were set long before the current Monster Ball show was developed. Ticket prices are comparable and fair."

The Live Nation website said the tour had been extended due to "overwhelming response". Tickets go on sale on 12 March.

The Brit-Award winner, known for hits such Paparazzi and Just Dance, will play Birmingham, London and Manchester in May and June - in the same venues she has already visited on the current leg of the tour.
