Burt Reynolds recovering after heart surgery

Burt Reynolds
Reynold said he was 'feeling great' following the surgery

US actor Burt Reynolds is recovering at his Florida home after undergoing heart bypass surgery, his manager has said.

The 74-year-old was released from hospital on Tuesday after a planned quintuple bypass operation.

Erik Kritzer said the Smokey and the Bandit star told him he had "a great motor with brand new pipes" and was "feeling great".

Last year, Reynolds spent time in a drug rehab clinic for painkiller abuse following back surgery.

"Mr Reynolds has been released from a hospital in Florida in which he had a scheduled bypass operation," Kritzer said in a statement.

"He wants to thank everyone for their good wishes. Doctors plan on a speedy recovery."

Reynolds won a Golden Globe for his role as a porn king in 1997's Boogie Nights.

He recently starred in British film A Bunch of Amateurs, opposite Imelda Staunton and Sir Derek Jacobi. He also appears in comedy Not Another Not Another Movie, due to be released later this year.
