Vernon Kay says sorry for 'foolishness'

Presenter Vernon Kay has made an on-air apology following press reports about his private life.

The 35-year-old, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing co-host Tess Daly, told listeners to his BBC Radio 1 show he had made "foolish" decisions.

"I've disappointed and let down a lot of people. To my family and everybody, I'm very sorry," said Kay.

The TV host made the apology at the beginning of his weekly Saturday morning programme.

It was unclear whether the show would go ahead after tabloid reports alleging he had exchanged explicit text messages with four women.

Kay, who presents entertainment shows including ITV's All Star Family Fortunes, married Daly in 2003.

The couple, who have two daughters, co-hosted BBC duets competition Just The Two of Us in 2007.

Daly has rescheduled a number of interviews to promote her new book.
