Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton breaks world record

Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton has tripled the Guinness World Record for the longest solo journey by kayak as she reached the half-way stage in her epic journey along the Amazon for Sport Relief.

The existing Guinness World Record, set in 2006, stands at 326.98 miles, but Helen Skelton has clocked up more than 1,000 miles in just three weeks as she battles through her adventure.

It has already been a remarkable adventure for the Blue Peter presenter who has suffered from sickness, heat exhaustion and, last week, the painful experience of multiple mosquito bites.
