Miley Cyrus has also donated some personal items

US pop star Miley Cyrus has called on some of her famous friends to donate memorabilia for an online auction to benefit the relief effort in Haiti.

Britney Spears has donated a dress she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards and bidders could also win a set visit to Hugh Jackman's new film.

Julianne Moore, Whoopi Goldberg and Ellen DeGeneres have also agreed to donate items.

The eBay auction will run from Monday until 18 February.

All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.

Cyrus, who can also be heard on Simon Cowell's Haiti charity single Everybody Hurts, has donated several items herself, including the Herve Leger dress she wore to this year's Grammy Awards.

Meanwhile, a similar auction set up by Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis raised £120,000 for Haiti.

The star lot was Chris Martin's Viva La Vida tour jacket which raised £9,600, and Arctic Monkey Alex Turner's Fender Stratocaster guitar fetched £4,600.

More than 150,000 people were killed in the earthquake which struck Haiti on 12 January.
