Lost star Daniel Dae Kim is to star in the remake of 1960s US police TV series Hawaii Five-O, according to reports.

The 41-year-old, currently on screen in the final series of Lost playing Jin Kwon, will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The role was played by Kam Fong in the original series which starred Jack Lord as former Navy officer Steve McGarrett.

The show, set in a fictional Hawaii state police department, ran from 1968 to 1980.

The part of Detective McGarrett has not yet been cast, although Alex O'Loughlin, from TV drama Moonlight, is reportedly in talks.

Kim is the first actor from Lost's main cast to join a new series as the mystery drama heads to its May finale.
