Grammy award-winning pop star Justin Timberlake will receive the 2010 Hasty Pudding Man of the Year award, organisers have announced.

The 28-year-old singer is to be honoured as "one of pop culture's most influential entertainers."

The prizes are handed out every year by Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the oldest undergraduate drama troupe in the US.

Winners are given a golden pudding pot, a tradition dating back to 1795.

Actress Anne Hathaway was named the Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year earlier this month.

Traditionally, the festivities are filled with men dressed in drag and fun costumes.

Last year, Bridget Jones actress Renee Zellweger donned a fat suit as she received her woman of the year award.

Timberlake will receive his prize on 5 February at the New College Theatre.

The star's Justified album produced four number one singles, making him the first artist, since recent US sales tracking started in 1991, to top the charts four times from one album.

He has also turned his hand to acting in recent years, appearing in Alpha Dog and The Open Road.

The 2009 man of the year was Spider-Man and Milk actor James Franco.
