Britain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle will star in her own Christmas special this year, ITV have confirmed.

The hour-long show, I Dreamed A Dream - The Susan Boyle Story, will feature special guests stars and the singer performing some of her new material.

Boyle and her friends and family will also appear in the show talking about her overnight success.

Her debut album I Dreamed A Dream recently broke music records in both the UK and the US.

It achieved the highest first-day sales of the year in the UK, shifting more than 130,000 copies and it went straight to number one.

In the US, she also topped the chart setting a first-week sales record for a female debut album there.

Record sales showed it had sold 701,000 copies.

Boyle shot to fame overnight after her surprising audition in front of the Britain's Got Talent judges in April.

The clip of her performing I Dreamed A Dream for the first time became an internet hit, with more than 100 million views on YouTube.
