EastEnders is preparing to celebrate 25 years on screen
EastEnders producers are calling on DJs and musicians to offer remixed versions of the famous theme music to the BBC One soap for the new online spin-off.
The chosen remix will be used for the title sequence of the internet-only show, which is expected to start at the beginning of next year.
EastEnders: E20 is the show's first web drama and will focus on four new teenage characters.
DJ Annie Mac launched the competition on her Radio 1 show on Friday.
"I'm really excited about running the EastEnders: E20 competition on the show," she said.
"It's great to give the listeners the chance to have some fun with the hugely iconic theme tune.
"We've also asked some of our favourite producers to have a go at doing a version and I'm really looking forward to hearing all the results."
EastEnders producer Deborah Sathe said she is looking for a "fresh take" on the classic theme tune.
"One that will become the fanfare for a show which celebrates London life, and what it's like to be young in the capital. All in the space of 30 seconds," she said.
The winner will also be invited to BBC Elstree for the day - where the show is recorded -to work with the show's music producer.
The drama, created by a group of new young writers at a summer school, will also contain crossovers with the regular Albert Square cast.
The idea has been created to coincide with the run-up to the show's 25th anniversary.
The drama's writers are also creating online blogs and other material to accompany the story.
The theme tune samples can be downloaded and remixes uploaded via the EastEnders website.
