Cowell named top earner on US TV

American Idol judge Simon Cowell is the top earner on US television, according to Forbes.com.

Cowell, also creator of America's Got Talent, earned an estimated $75m (£44.7m) from June 2008 to June 2009.

Cowell, 50, beat The Apprentice show host Donald Trump, who came in second place, with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest in third spot.

Trump earned an estimated $50m (£29.8m), while Seacrest, who is also a radio presenter, made $38m (£22.6m).
