Andre wins libel damages from Now

Peter Andre has accepted "substantial" damages in London's High Court over claims he was lying when he portrayed himself as a loving father and husband.

The personality had sued IPC Media for £300,000 over an article published in Now magazine this July titled "Jordan Explodes: 'Tell the Truth Peter!'"

It dealt with the acrimonious end to Andre's marriage to ex-glamour model Katie Price, formerly known as Jordan.

The pair have maintained a constant media presence since their separation.

Andre's solicitor, Gordon Williams, told the court that Now magazine had suggested the star may have been at fault for two accidents suffered by Harvey, Price's disabled son by footballer Dwight Yorke.

Mr Williams told the court: "Separately, Mr Andre was also said to have demanded sick sexual threesomes from his wife, which horrified her and which she did not enjoy, feeling used and like a sex doll.

"As a result, Mr Andre was said to be lying in portraying himself as a loving father and husband."

The singer, 36, was present in the London courtroom for a brief hearing before Mr Justice Eady.

He declined to reveal the amount of the damages, but said he was "pleased" that Now had accepted that the story was untrue.

He added: "I take my responsibilities very seriously. I would never do anything to hurt my children, whom I love very much."

The singer has two children from his marriage to Price - Junior, who is four years old, and Princess Tiaamii, who is two.

The couple were granted a divorce last month.
