Former EastEnders star Joe Swash has been declared bankrupt, but has vowed to settle his tax bill "imminently", his agent has said.

A bankruptcy order was filed this week over a "tax issue", but the 27-year-old has said he will seek to get it reversed once the payment is made.

"Everyone has to pay tax and Joe knows he is no exception," his agent said.

Swash, who left EastEnders in 2008, went on to win ITV's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

He is returning to Australia to work with the team on this year's show.

"There was a tax issue for which the final payment is imminent and, once made, discussions will be held with the Official Receiver to seek to reverse the bankruptcy order.

The actor, who is currently dating Kara Tointon - also a former EastEnders star - has recently starred in a Living TV reality series, Pamela Anderson: At Home With Joe.
