Jade Goody's family have settled a High Court action over photographs taken at the reality star's private burial, their lawyer has announced.

Seven people, including Goody's mother, claimed the picture was an invasion of privacy and a breach of confidence.

Mirror Group Newspapers and picture agency NewsPics agreed to pay £35,000 in damages, as well as legal costs.

The People newspaper carried a front page photograph on 4 April, 2009 and a special pullout the following day.

Goody died in March from cervical cancer, at the age of 27.

Her mother, Jackiey Budden; grandparents John and Sylvia Caddock; aunt and uncle Angela and Trevor Cox; and cousins Lee and Danny Andrews settled the action on Thursday.

Private ceremony

In a consent order approved by the High Court, MGN Limited and Newspics Limited gave undertakings to the family that they would not publish, republish, syndicate, use or disseminate any of the photographs of the private burial, or any similar photographs in the future.

MGN Limited has also written to the family, accepting that they had a reasonable expectation of privacy in respect of such photographs and apologising for the distress caused.

Goody's funeral was a highly public affair, with thousands of people turning out to see the procession, which travelled through London before reaching Buckhurst Hill in Essex.

The ceremony was relayed to members of the public on huge screens and speakers outside St John's Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

The picture published in the Sunday tabloid, however, showed a group of mourners at Goody's burial, which was a private event.

More pictures were taken at the graveside but were not published.

Goody became famous after appearing in the third series of Channel 4's Big Brother in 2002.
