Michelle Obama is to appear on The Jay Leno Show this Friday as part of a brief comedy sketch.

The wife of President Barack Obama will appear via satellite from Washington DC and will answer 10 quick questions from the NBC show's host.

Previous participants in Leno's routine have included Senator John McCain and basketball star LeBron James.

The first lady previously appeared on the Jay Leno's Tonight Show last year, just ahead of the US election.

During her live appearance, Leno teased her about how expensive her outfit must be - but she surprised the audience by telling them it was from J Crew, a mid-market chain store.

The US First Lady was among the newcomers in a list of the world's most powerful women published earlier this year.

Mrs Obama made her debut at number 40 on the list for Forbes Magazine.
