Björk and Lars Von Trier celebrating at Cannes
Singers Björk and Kylie Minogue will be making guest appearances at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival, which starts next month.

Robocop director Paul Verhoeven will also visit the Scottish capital with actress Elizabeth Shue for the première of his latest film, The Hollow Man.

Björk will help open the festival with director Lars Van Trier on 13 August.

The Icelandic singer stars as a blind factory worker in Dancer In The Dark, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Kylie Minogue has a cameo role as a murdered director in Cut, and is also the producer of a short film. She will appear at the festival on 19 August.

A family section will make its debut at this year's festival, with Richard E Grant's comedy The Little Vampire part of the line-up.

The House of Mirth - starring X-Files actress Gillian Anderson - will be premièred as well. The film was shot in Glasgow last year, with the city used as a double for New York.

Festival director Lizzie Francke called this year's line-up "one of the best".

"It has the ideal mixture of glamorous world and international premières," she said.

"The film festival is one of the most exciting places to be this August."
