Torchwood writer James Moran is to make his directorial debut with a web-only crime thriller series, which he has also penned.

Former EastEnders and Doc Martin actor Joe Absolom and Tracy-Ann Oberman, best known as Chrissie Watts in the BBC soap, will star in Girl Number 9.

Absolom will play a man who is arrested for the brutal murder of seven girls.

Filming for the six five-minute episodes has already started and are due to be broadcast next month.

Moran, who has also written for Doctor Who and Spooks, will direct parts four to six with Dan Turner - whose credits include Look at Me and Big Mistake - directing the remainder.

Fans are being told to check the series website and Twitter feed for trailers, interviews and articles.
