Bernstein's music brought to London

Leonard Bernstein was one of the greatest figures in the history of American music. Now there is a season-long project devoted to his work at London's Southbank Centre.

It is being run by Marin Alsop - the American conductor and Bernstein protégée. Alsop made history two years ago when she was appointed as Music Director to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - the first woman ever to head a major American orchestra.

Kirsty Lang met Marin Alsop to talk to her about her relationship with Bernstein and his huge musical influence on her own career.
