Coldplay are in the running to defend their Q Award for best act in the world against Muse and Oasis.

The Arctic Monkeys are nominated in four categories and Kasabian and Florence And The Machine have three each, including one for best album.

There is also a nod for Jack White from White Stripes' other band, The Dead Weather, in the best new act category.

The winners will be announced on 26 October at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London.

Oasis pick up two nominations less than a month after Noel Gallagher announced he was leaving the band.

Mercury Prize nominees Florence And The Machine and La Roux will go up against Lady Gaga and teenager Pixie Lott, along with Kanye West's protege Mr Hudson.

U2 have landed a pair of nominations for best live act and best album for No Line On the Horizon and chart-topping artist Dizzee Rascal is nominated for best video and best track.
