Singer Yusuf making tour comeback

Yusuf
Yusuf's last set of dates was the Majikat tour in 1976

Musician Yusuf - formerly known as Cat Stevens - is to tour the UK and Ireland for the first time in 33 years.

The 61-year-old's four date tour, starting in November, will take in Dublin, Liverpool and Birmingham, ending at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Yusuf is set to play big hits including Father and Son and will premiere new songs from his musical Moonshadow.

The singer performed at a London concert earlier this year to celebrate the 50th birthday of Island Records.

Journey

His other one-off appearances include the Live Earth concert which took place in Hamburg in March.

The music star's return to touring is billed as "a mix of concert and musical storytelling" and will feature songs from his more recent albums.

Yusuf made a return to recording in 2006 with the release of his first album in 28 years.

He turned his back on the music industry in 1979 after converting to Islam and changing his name.

Auditions for Moonshadow, which will feature a cast of some 20 performers and numerous musicians, have been taking place for several weeks.

The show, which tells the tale of a boy's journey through life, will weave old and new songs by Yusuf into the narrative.

Tickets for the tour will go on sale on 21 September.
