Dylan to show artwork in Denmark

Music legend Bob Dylan will have his artwork displayed at the National Gallery of Denmark next year.

The exhibition, of nearly 100 pieces, will include some works that have never been seen before, including 30 large-format acrylic paintings.

Dylan recently told British music magazine Mojo that he has always drawn and painted "but up until recently, nobody's taken an interest".

His next album, Christmas In The Heart, will be released 13 October.

Dylan is donating all royalties to hunger relief organisations.

Earlier this year, he topped the US and British album charts with his 33rd album, Together Through Life.

The star used one of his paintings for the front cover of his 1970 album Self Portrait.

The gallery's chief curator, Kasper Monrad, said: "Bob Dylan's visual artistic practice has only been discussed by art historians to a limited extent, so critical examination and interpretation are called for."

Dylan first started exhibiting his paintings in 2007 at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz museum in the small German city of Chemnitz.

He said he draws things that interest him and then he paints them.

"I can take a bowl of fruit and turn it into a life-and-death drama," he said.

"Women are power figures so I depict them that way."

Dylan's art show will open in autumn 2010 in Copenhagan.
