Actress Barton 'out of hospital'

Mischa Barton is due to begin filming for new TV show The Beautiful Life

Former OC star Mischa Barton has left hospital in Los Angeles after being treated for an undisclosed medical condition, her publicist has said.

Craig Schneider said the actress, 23, was "out of the hospital and continuing to improve in anticipation of resuming production" of a new US TV show.

Barton will play a pill-popping model in The Beautiful Life, scheduled to begin filming on Friday.

She was initially taken from her home by police because of a medical problem.

Los Angeles police confirmed they removed her from her home on Wednesday 15 July but declined to give any further details of her condition.

London-born Barton shot to fame playing Marissa Cooper in teen drama The OC.

In December 2007, she was arrested and later pleaded guilty to drinking and driving.
