The National Portrait Gallery is to celebrate the 60th birthday of fashion model Twiggy, who was catapulted to fame in 1966, aged 16.
Her cropped hairdo and huge eyelashes prompted the Daily Express to label Twiggy "the face of 1966". Born Lesley Hornby, she went on to become a Golden Globe-winning actress and recording artist.
The mother-of-one continues to model today. She also appeared as a judge on America's Next Top Model and recently posed for leading contemporary photographers including musician Bryan Adams.
Twiggy: A Life in Photographs, opens on Twiggy's birthday, 19 September, and runs until 24 March 2010 at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
