Comic Lucas to make radio return

Matt Lucas
Lucas will be seen on BBC Two later this year in Shooting Stars

Matt Lucas is to present a chat show on Radio 2 which will be his first radio comedy series since Little Britain.

And The Winner Is will see Matt and his three guests nominate people, places, songs and films for special awards dubbed "the Lucases".

The show, to be aired later this year, will be produced by Ashley Blaker, who worked with Lucas and comedy partner David Walliams on Little Britain.

That show began on Radio 4 before being made into a BBC TV series.

Lucas, 35, said he was looking forward to his radio return.

"Radio 2 give me a nice chair to sit on and a glass of water so I'm very happy," he added.

Music satire

The comic and actor can currently be seen in Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire on BBC Two.

He was recently heard on Radio 2 hosting Not Letting It Be, a documentary about the tradition of music business satire.

Radio 2 has also announced that The Jason Byrne Show will return to the station later this month for a second series.

The six-part programme will see the Irish comedian tackle themes including food, drink, travel and animals in his improvisational style.
