Brown admits Rihanna assault

R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded guilty in the US to one count of assault on his former girlfriend, pop star Rihanna.

The last-minute plea deal came before a hearing at a Los Angeles court at which Rihanna was due to give evidence.

After the hearing, his lawyer said he was looking at it as an opportunity "to get his career back on track".
