Winslet's web stalker
Kate Winslet
Winslet has received a string of emails via a fan site
Actress Kate Winslet is being hounded by a internet stalker.

The Titanic star has been sent several e-mail death threats via a fan club website.

Winslet's New York agent Robert Garlock said police were contacted after the 24-year-old actress's London agents received an e-mail warning that she may be in danger.

The stalker, who goes by the name of Dina, has sent a string of emails to the unofficial Kate Winslet Fan Club site.

In these messages - some of which have been particularly vicious - the stalker said "she" intended to visit London.

Once there, Dina said she wanted to attack - even kill - the British actress, who is expecting her first baby in September.

Another email referred to the new home Winslet has bought with film director husband Jim Threapleton in the UK, suggesting that Dina intended to find out the address.

Steps have been taken to remove any clues as to where Winslet lives from the fan club's site.

Previous problems

The messages have been traced to the literature department of the Aristotle University in Thessalonic, Greece.

Two years ago, Winslet had to take action against a man she said had been following her.

Under the Protection from Harassment Act, the man - a 26-year-old photographer - was arrested.

Following a warning, he was later released without charge.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who most recently starred in Holy Smoke with Harvey Keitel, has just returned to the UK after filming her latest movie, Enigma.

Directed by Michael Apted, the film also stars Saffron Burrows and is based on the World War II code-breakers based at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire.
