Lady GaGa draws aces on US charts

Lady GaGa's first single took 5 months to climb to the US number one slot

Pop star Lady GaGa has become the only artist in nearly a decade to top the US charts with her first two singles.

Poker Face, the second release from her electro-pop debut album The Fame, climbed to number one this week after 15 weeks on release.

Her first single, Just Dance had the same success - and both tracks have also topped the UK singles chart.

The last artist to manage the feat was Christina Aguilera with Genie in a Bottle and What a Girl Wants.

In the last 25 years , Tiffany and Mariah Carey are the only other women to start their careers with two number one singles.

Both Lady GaGa's singles took a while to rise in the US. Just Dance was a sleeper hit, lying in the charts for five months before claiming the number one slot. Once there, it hung on for three weeks.

Poker Face went in at number 92 before making the top ten in March this year.
