Arteron and Mikkelsen both have Bond pedigree
Bond movie actors Gemma Arterton and Mads Mikkelsen are to star in mythological epic Clash of the Titans.
British actress Arterton, who played Agent Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace, said she is "really excited" about her role of demi-goddess Io.
Danish star Mikkelsen, who portrayed villain Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, will play a warrior called Draco.
The movie, which is a new version of the 1981 original, is due to begin filming later this month.
Speaking at the recent Empire Awards in London, Arterton explained that her character is the protector of the film's lead figure, Perseus, who will be played by Sam Worthington.
"She's like the guardian angel and she's really great - a really brilliant woman, even though she's a goddess," added the actress.
Arterton is also appearing in British director Richard Curtis's latest film The Boat That Rocked, which is due to open in UK cinemas today.
The original version of Clash of the Titans starred the late Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Maggie Smith, and used stop motion animation techniques to bring mythological monsters to life.
The film was a US box office hit against strong competition from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
