Dane Cook starred in Good Luck Chuck with Jessica Alba
The half-brother of US comedian and actor Dane Cook has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly stealing millions of dollars from the star.
Darryl McCauley, 43, was charged with eight counts of larceny over $250 (£173), as well as forgery and larceny by continuous scheme.
Prosecutors say he stole the money while being paid $12,500 (£8,600) a month as Cook's business manager.
Mr McCauley denies taking money without Cook's consent.
An indictment is a formal accusation of a serious crime, issued after a grand jury hears evidence from prosecutors.
They alleged that he stole millions from Cook's business accounts by transferring funds to his own personal accounts and, in one instance, forging a $3 million (£2.1m) cheque written from Cook's account to himself.
Mr McCauley was arrested on 30 December over the alleged thefts, which took place between January and December 2008, but the investigation is ongoing.
He was held on $3 million (£2.1m) cash bail, although the amount was later reduced to $500,000 (£345,000).
A trial date has yet to be set.
As well as being a stand up comedian, Dane Cook is best known for starring in the 2007 film Good Luck Chuck opposite Jessica Alba.
He is about to embark on a world tour beginning in the US in April that will take in Brazil, Australia, the UK and Germany.
