Actor Patrick Swayze is to write a memoir with his wife, his spokeswoman has said.

A publisher and release date for the book have yet to be announced, but Annett Wolf confirmed the couple were working on a book.

The 56-year-old Dirty Dancing star has been battling pancreatic cancer for the last year.

In an interview earlier this month, he admitted he may only have two years to live, but denied he was near death.

The star was released from hospital on 16 January after a week-long stay, where he was treated for pneumonia.

Swayze's latest TV show, The Beast, premiered this week on the US cable network A&E.

In the drama series, Swayze plays an FBI veteran who trains a rookie partner, played by Travis Fimmel.

Producers have said filming is completed on all episodes of the first series and they hope Swayze will continue in the role for a second season.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most virulent forms of cancer which medical experts say has a 5% five-year survival rate.
